My greatest wish is to be mentored by you, to be the strongest female dancer, like you, and to be in a room full of future young female coaches and adjudicators. My coaches have always spoken and quoted on your life journey as the world’s South African female dancer, and when I grow into understanding my role in dancing I wish that God could grant me the opportunity and time to be with you. You are my inspiration and one of my long term goals is to be trained by you, not in dance alone, but mentally, physically and spiritually. I’m not a Latin dancer but your strength and love for dance inspire me.

When African women share a vision, a special determination and kindred spirit is born to bring change and enhance the lives of young people. Over the past few years, it has been an incredible privilege to share and participate in the vision and determination of Tebogo Kgobokoe to uplift the lives of young South Africans through world of dance!

Although a celebrity and world renowned dancer, adjudicator and choreographer in her own right, Tebogo invests her energy and passion into imparting her life experiences, commitment and professionalism for future generations. It is her ability to connect with and inspire young dancers to realise their potential and dreams so that they, in turn, can become great contributors to dancing in South Africa.

Tebogo has proved herself as a leading South African business entrepreneur – committed to encouraging and maintaining the highest level of professionalism. Her work ethic, ability to share her vision and determination makes Tebogo a leader in a class of her own. It takes exceptional leadership skills to achieve the respect that Tebogo enjoys, not only within the dance community worldwide, but also amongst the public and private sectors of South African business.

Through our shared commitment to Dance to be Wild, we promote the true privilege of being African and celebrating the majestic beauty of Africa, its people and its natural resources. Young South Africans are given the opportunity to reconnect with their environment and to use dance, in all its forms, as a platform for social cohesion and upliftment of their own communities.

Over the years, we have witnessed how lives have been changed, talent has been nurtured and passion ignited through all the young dancers privileged enough to walk their life’s journey with Tebogo. Tebogo has this incredible ability to bring unity, passion and fulfilment, although within the boundaries of strict discipline and commitment which is required for achievement and success.

It is an absolute honour and privilege to have Tebogo as part of the Dance to be Wild team! We have witnessed the incredible achievement and realisation of her dreams through the Tebogo Kgobokoe Arts Academy where young South Africans under her care, will be the leaders of tomorrow in addition to sharing the exceptional talent of South Africans both locally and on dance floors and stages internationally.

Dance to be Wild International

My first encounter with Tebogo Kgobokoe was at a weekend Detox and Destress workshop held by the International O&O Academy based in India. During the process there was a lot of meaningful sharing amongst the attendees. What struck me about Tebogo is her centred-ness, her eloquence and tangible vibrancy. She has such a zest for life! My interaction with Tebogo during the workshop left me feeling enriched. There is a depth to her – her warmth, her sincerity and sensitivity, her kindness and humility which even more enrich her strength of character. All these personality traits made a deep impression on me.

A week later, while watching the programme “Strictly Come Dancing” on TV, I realised that one of the judges was the same unpretentious Tebogo Kgobokoe – our South African and International Ballroom and Latin American Dance Champion. I soon learnt that Tebogo is a woman who wears many hats with aplomb!

I had the great privilege of visiting and experiencing one of her dreams come true – the Tebogo Kgobokoe Arts Academy, founded by herself. The Academy has provided a nurturing and supportive environment for children to grow and flourish. I was delighted to be treated to a series of stunning performances by the learners, ranging from Ballroom to Latin American to Traditional dance. The level of talent and professionalism demonstrated by the dancers came as no surprise. Under Tebogo’s guidance, her students have received accolades for achieving 1st to 4th place in different categories in the SA Dance Championships. This is a true testament to Tebogo’s passion for uplifting children through the expression of dance. Their achievements is a reflection of what she has created at the Tebogo Kgobokoe Arts Academy. Instilled by Tebogo, there is such a warm sense of pride and respect that exudes from everyone at the Academy. It takes great vision and courage to create both an academic and dancing arts institution of this distinction. My whole experience left me wanting to share it with the rest of the world.

When they say that Dynamite comes in Small Packages – that is Tebogo!
